Ed, Mike, Joe Dan and myself are going up to the Birmingham NEC for this year's GamesExpo. Three days of board and miniature gaming goodness. I have entered two tournaments; Drop Zone Commander on the Saturday and Infinity N3 on the Sunday. Others in the group have also chosen some different events, Bushido and Guild Ball amongst them. If you can, please come and say hello to me (Alex Randall), and the guys.
Above: Some purchases for the weekend. Cleanliness is next to......winning wargames?
I have been having fairly good results at the club's DZC escalation league including lots of little guys in the army. Four units of Fighters, four units of Occupational Veterans and three units of Freeriders will hopefully be a shock to my opponents (unless they read this before the event of course). My only traditional anti-tank in the army is the HQ choice, but I hope that the bikes and the Vets will cause enough trouble for my opponents so that I don't get overrun. Time and gaming will tell.

My Infinity N3 army is almost identical as the list I took to Woking apart from the fact that two of the Foxtrot Rangers now have Light Shotguns rather than rifles. The list is:

Grunt - Heavy Flamethrower
Grunt - HMG
Grunt - Paramedic with Rifle
Grunt - Forward Observer with Rifle
Grunt - Forward Observer with Rifle
Dozer - Traktor Mul Control Device
Traktor Mul - Katyusla MRL
112 - Light Shotgun
Van Sant - Rifle (Not the Executive Order version)
Airborne Ranger - Submachine Gun
Group Two: (6 regular, 2 irregular and 1 impetuous orders)
Foxtrot - Forward Observer with Rifle
Foxtrot - Forward Observer with Light Shotgun
Foxtrot - Forward Observer with Rifle
Foxtrot - Forward Observer with Light Shotgun
Hardcase Frontiersman - Tactical Bow
Hardcase Frontiersman - Tactical Bow
Grunt - Lieutenant with Rifle
As the TO Peter reminded me, 'you know that you can bring two lists?' But, as I have said before, I find things simpler if only only take one list.
There is more to the event than the gaming. Traders a plenty will be plying their trade. I have, unsurprisingly, a shopping list. We shall wait to see how much discipline I have to not spend over my self imposed limit. Fat chance!
A couple of weeks ago I posted up some poorly lit pictures of my Nomads. Things have moved on. Let's have another go.
Happy Wargaming to you all.
Hi Alex,
ReplyDeleteReally nice to meet you on the Saturday! And judging by your resistance photos, I should have had a closer look at your army. I especially like the infantry hiding behind the vents.
Hopefully see you again at Critical Engagement!
Jonathan
Hi Jonathan. Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment. I am currently working on three posts regarding the excellent weekend. Good to see you, and looking forward to seeing you Critical Engagement.
